I remember like it was yesterday, the first time I was forced to learn how to work with computers. The thing I remember the most, was the fact that it was very intimidating. When computers were first introduced to the pharmacy world, those of us that grew up without them felt very old and no longer so proficient in a job that until that moment we were very efficient and successful. The normal resistance to change was evident, but there were here to stay and we had no choice than to learn or else. Today I have to wonder, how did we ever manage to do our work every day without them?
As I read the Standards for education requirements for technology K-12, is just amazing how far we have come with technology. As I read thru the syllabus of this course I came to the realization of how little I know and how much more there is for me to learn. And better yet, how many great things I can accomplish in my classroom and with my students once I get these new skills.
I agree this technological learning process needs to be established at a very early grade in school. Not long ago I saw a documentary of how students that were home bound for different reasons, can still join their classmates by computer web link and the use of a robot in their place at school. Imagine this!
I look forward to be an active part of this class! It looks already that is going to be fun and there is a lot to be learned.

As i read your blog I agree with the idea that we have come a long way. It's amazing to think that adults just a few years older than myself don't know how to email, or to look on the internet. I can't even imagine not having email in college.....how did they communicate??
I think this is part of the scare with teachers! This gap in technological awareness! Some get frustrated just thinking about the word technology. Others are comfortable, and those in between are the bold who experiment and try to work through things!
At my school we are trying to address the technology standards even more. We have formed a technology committee which is in the process of writing 8-10 lesson per grade based off the standards. In some cases teachers don't know where the start so we're trying to provide them with lesson plans that need little preparation and will build from lesson to lesson! THis is a start in our school and I'm hoping that it will help how the teachers feel.
