NJCCCS & NETS

When I first started teaching the NJCCS were a big help for me. As I would sit down and work on my lessons plans the fact that there were guidelines and certain criteria that had to be followed, served as a guide in making sure that not only I covered the curriculum but that is was done in a way that was uniform with what other science teachers in New Jersey were also doing. The NETS were develop for the same reason, so students regardless of what school they are attending were given instruction using the same guidelines. Because of the NJCCS and NETS any individual who wants to teach must become knowledgeable with them if they are to properly do their jobs.
Setting standards is very important, not only they should be met but if possible exceeded! We as educators should be challenging ourselves everyday and stay ahead of the "game" by remaining teachable always, otherwise we will not be effective in our journey as educators.
